Causes and characteristics of fire caused by wire and cable

Wire and cable fires are mainly caused by overload, short circuit, excessive touch resistance and external heat source effect. Under the condition of short circuit, partial overheating and external heat effect, the insulation resistance of insulating materials decreases, the insulation ability is lost, and even burns, which leads to fire. The primary characteristics of wire and cable in fire are:

(1) The fire temperature is generally between 800 °C and 1000 °C. In the case of fire, the wire and cable will quickly lose the insulation ability, which will cause secondary electrical accidents such as short circuit and cause greater losses.

(2) conductor cable has a higher overload capacity under regular promised capacity.

(3) short circuit condition, wire and cable will instantly cause insulation data to melt, incinerate, and ignite combustible materials around.
